The name derives from the combination of Martensitic Aging, and what makes it different from other types of steel is it is almost carbon free. Because this form of steel is extremely strong, it can be produced into a very thin sheet as compared to normal stainless steel varieties and makes an excellent choice for face inserts of fairway woods, hybrids and even irons.
